Vision
“Towards international standard research in sustainable design and innovation”
We are committed to high quality, multi-disciplinary research that will ultimately enhance the quality of life through the sustainable use of both tangible and intangible resources.
Objectives:
- To increase the ratio between number of academic staff to the number of research projects
- To increase the percentage of research funding from the internal sources
- To increase the percentage of research funding from the external sources
- To increase the percentage of research initiated by collaboration with other organisation(s)
- To increase the percentage of publications in the international journals and presentations at international conference
- To disseminate knowledge from research to benefit the society
Strategies:
1. Encourage and support research skills development such as proposal writing and the use of statistical package
Action
- Training and workshops regularly organised by Sukhothai Thamathirat University, Thai Researcher Association
- Small group discussions hold by the deputy dean of research and/or research clusters co-ordinators
2. Increase the number of research proposals submitted to inside and outside sources of funding
Action
- Research proposals submitted can be counted as a part of the workload
- Update research news (call for proposals) regularly
3. Promote multi-disciplinary research
Action
- Develop database of researchers’ profile and interests that can be easily accessed on the school website
- Encourage multi-disciplinary research, specifically to applied research, through REDEK
4. Promote collaboration with the external organisation and, especially, the industry
Action
- Initiate collaboration with other (local and international) universities and invite academics/researcher to develop proposals together
- Visits to research facilities at other (local and international) universities, industry and exchange ideas about possible collaborations
5. Promote research on sustainability at various scales
Action
- SOAD call for proposals that address the issue of sustainability at various scales e.g. product design, building design, urban planning
